Hello, I’m Jim Wheeler.

 My family and I live in the northwest part of Connecticut. We are no strangers to severe weather, especially in the winter. Many years ago, during a winter storm power outage, I went out to check on the generator that was powering my house. To my surprise, it was buried in a large snowdrift. This situation was not only unsafe but downright dangerous. Once things returned to normal, I searched for something I could use to protect my generator while it was outside running. I could find nothing, but homemade contraptions and Rubbermaid garbage can enclosures. None of these things would give me the protection I was looking for, so I was forced to come up with something myself. I wanted an enclosure that would protect my generator from weather, but since I was designing it, might as well make it tamper and theft proof too. I also decided to build something that my wife and kids could easily use while I was not at home. Simple, yet tough. 

I wasn’t planning on turning this into a business, but if I needed something like this, I knew many other people did as well, so here we are. After years of designing and redesigning, I came up with something that fits the bill, GenSafe. GenSafe is a 120 lb.,16-gauge, powder-coated steel enclosure that takes only minutes to assemble and disassemble with no tools needed. GenSafe can also be anchored to the ground for increased security. It is a temporary or long-term storage solution for your portable generator.  No more worrying about your generator sitting outside by itself, unprotected.
